CornwallGiveaway - Rules and annoucements

Lurking in sheds, attics and cupboards all over Cornwall are items that are too good to throw away, but are not loved or needed any more, things we don’t WANT to throw away but don’t have the space to keep or maintain. Things someone else could get much more enjoyment out of.

Our Goal is to join people who have things they want to get rid of with people who can use them and to keep usable items out of landfills.

How does CornwallGiveaway work?

Everything posted on this forum must be free, legal and appropriate for all ages. When you want to OFFER something - whether it's a chair, fax machine, piano or an old door, simply post to your area. After that it is up to the item owner to decide who receives the gift from the responses  and to set up a collection time, and finally edit your post with ITEM TAKEN message.

Maybe you're looking to acquire something yourself? Post a WANTED message and a group member from your areas may just have what you're looking for.

Find your most local town/city, either by searching for your town or city, or browsing the lists of cornwallgiveaway.board-directory.net POSTS, and join it.

Cornwallgiveaway  is a free network of local towns/groups where you can give stuff away when you want to get rid of it – but don’t want to throw it away because it still has some useful life left in it. Or if there’s something you’d like, perhaps someone has just what you need that they don’t want any more.

Unwanted items are getting reused in their communities via cornwallgiveaway.
Everyone and any organisation are welcome to join.

It’s free to sign up, then post a message with an OFFER of something you want to get rid of, or a WANTED message for something you need.

For example:
1. You have a washing machine you’re thinking of dumping.
2. You join your local giveaway group
3. You post an OFFER message to the list, seen by everyone who looks on the site.
4. Interested members of your area will reply to you privately. You choose who you would like to give it to.
5. Between you, you arrange for them to come and pick up the washing machine.
6. It gets collected.
7. You’ve given away your washing machine with little effort, and you also got to meet someone new from your neighbourhood in the process.
8. Someone local to you who needed your unwanted machine can now use it, fix it, use parts for spares or upcycle it to something else.
9. It didn’t go into landfill or incinerator. Great for both you and our planet. Everyone wins!

If you need an item you can request one on the list in the same way and if someone has what you’d like they will contact you to offer it. All offers and requests must be (free and legal).

Our aim is to keep anything usable in use for as long as possible. Meeting new people helps to develop local community networks and friendships in the process. The local group moderators will be happy to help you if you need advice about anything.
